The Mason City School District has received a perfect score and a rating of “Excellent” on the Ohio Department of Education report card every year since 2000 and earned the fifth highest score in state academic rankings.

RECREATION AND ACTIVITIES

Located in Warren County, “Ohio’s Largest Playground” is host to plenty of activities. The widely known Western & Southern Open Tennis Tournament of the Tennis Masters Series is held every year at the Lindner Family Tennis Center. Locals and visitors alike also enjoy Paramount’s Kings Island Amusement Park. Thrill seekers can ride the world-class roller coasters, including the tallest, fastest and only looping wooden coaster on the planet. Golf enthusiasts find no shortage of places to practice their swing, including the 27-hole Golf Center designed by Jack Nicklaus, a par 60 course called the Bruin Mid-Length, and standard public 18-hole options like Western Row, Crooked Tree and Kingswood golf courses.

Also nearby is the Great Wolf Lodge where adventure begins in a massive, 84-degree indoor water park. Another one of the Mason area’s better-known family-oriented amusements is a 35-acre water park called The Beach. Additionally, there are also six large parks offering walking, hiking and biking trails, sporting facilities, stocked lakes, playgrounds and picnic areas making up for nearly 250 acres of Mason. The awareness and appreciation for nature and family time is as prominent in the community as its economical and residential growth. The Mason Community Center even offers an Olympic-size swimming pool, fitness amenities, tennis courts and so much more to the public. Pedestrian trails connect residential areas to the parks, making for a safe and speedy trip for children and adults alike.

The nightlife is surprisingly lively in Mason, as well. Theaters and music venues entertain locals each evening. An eclectic mix of mouthwatering eateries draws those from neighboring communities as well. Local shopping opportunities range from antiques to bulk family grocery stores and everything in between.
